As I had mentioned previously this week was off timetable as there is an educational trip to Amsterdam.
We all had to endure a 12 hour coach ride which passed through the euro tunnel and had many stops.
As soon as I arrived I visited the main city for dinner and drinks and called it a night in.
The educational visits started from Tuesday onwards.
Tuesday morning : Originally there was a plan to visit Utrech however there was a recent terrorist attack. therefore we were allocated the whole day as free.
I firstly visited the Nemo museum which is a very interactive, suitable for all ages science museum built on 6 floors.
Towards the evening I visited Body world. I can not express the fascination and knowledge that museum holds. The museum was based on a project about happiness. over 5 floors it looks in to the social, genetic, environmental and many other aspects which effect our happiness as humans. it also looked in to diseases such as obesity, Alzheimer's, smoking ect and emphasised the positive effects of staying fit. it was over all the best museum for me personally.
Wednesday: As a class we visited the Droog Museum which was a contemporary furniture store and exclusive hotel. it was a very interesting concept and financially inclusive. it aimed to allow all kinds of people to be a part of design financially as there were objects and furniture ranging from affordable and expensive.
Later we all visited the film eye museum which was an incredible space. it was interesting to see how the forms, shapes and no use of right angles in the building create such an impact. we all were offered with drinks and traditional dutch deserts and were later allowed to have self directed time.
I decided to visit the prostitute museum which emphasised the importance of respecting everyone .
I visited the red light ditrict and had a relaxed night with some drinks and churos
Thursday: As a class we visited the Moco museum which I loved. I would rank it as the 2nd best museum I visited. the information provided was quality and it made me think of design with a broader take. I was able to see Banksy's work which im a big fan off and we were all given the time to freely explore after the tour.
I then headed to town for SHOPPING!
I was lucky enough to try the famous "no 1 chips" (which were delicious) and then took a tram to the botanical gardens.
The botanical gardens is a green house area which homes rare plants ranging from the tropical rain forest and cactus environments. there was also a butterfly house.
I was lucky enough to get exclusive tickets to the Ann frank house and I witnessed the original anex, and real diaries. it was all very fascinating.
lastly I took an hour canna ride and learnt about Amsterdam's history and ended the night with an Indian restaurant and face masks.
Friday : 12 hour journey home
Over all it was an incredible experience and my first trip abroad alone. it really forced me to be independent as I did majority of my things alone. I leant to enjoy my company and really had some quality me time.
